Ben is from Eagle Butte, SD, located on the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe Reservation. Raised in a small, hardworking family, he grew up with a strong sense of civic duty, spending much of his free time volunteering in community events and public projects. His family instilled in him the belief that everyone has a responsibility to serve the community and leave it better for future generations.
Guided by these values, Ben has dedicated his professional career to public service and the advancement of community safety, health, and well-being. He has extensive experience working across Federal, Tribal, State, and local governments, giving him a deep understanding of navigating diverse governmental systems and driving effective progress in collaboration with public entities.
Currently, Ben and his wife operate their own consulting company, applying their expertise to serve communities in innovative and efficient ways, while continuing their commitment to meaningful public service.
In addition, Ben served as Facilities Director for the Great Plains Region at Indian Health Services (IHS), where he oversaw operations, maintenance, and strategic planning for health facilities across multiple Tribal communities. In this role, he ensured safe, efficient, and compliant healthcare environments while collaborating closely with Tribal leadership and federal agencies to address the unique needs of Native communities.
Ben has particular expertise with Section 105I programs, helping Tribal communities leverage federal resources to foster sustainable economic development. Through this work, he has supported Tribes in creating projects that generate jobs, strengthen local economies, and advance long-term community self-sufficiency.
